Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandoned

On my trips to Liverpool last autumn I spotted some buildings that are in desperate need of some love and work.

The Lime Street Picture House, Lime Street

Also known as The Futurist, it was the first purpose built cinema in Liverpool and first opened in September 1912. It had a Georgian style front, blue Sicilian marble foyer and featured a lift, which was quite unusual at the time. It closed its doors for the final time in July 1982.

Just a couple of metres away are the new buildings of the redevelopment of Princes Dock. This is really old and new next to each other.

Nothing-Happening-Liverpool

Nothing’s happening…

Forgotten about? It has looked like this for a while now. I’m not sure whether it’s supposed to go up or down.
